Intelligent houses

    These days we hear more and more about intelligent installations or intelligent houses.

In case of a classical installation the cabling runs from a circuit-breaker to lights through switches which are used for switching on/off the lights or lighting circuits. Power socket circuits run from circuit-breakers to sockets without being switched off. Basic functions such as local switching control and power distribution in sockets is managed by the classical installation to a sufficient extent. A problem arises when we require more comfort, an example being the switching from multiple locations.

klasicka instalaciaIn the classical installation for switching one lighting circuit from 4 locations we need to use 2 two-way switches and 2 intermediate switches. It is thus quite complex to connect all switches and wire them correctly within the power lines, while using a rather big amount of power cables. All control is done within power lines.

One central function for switching off several lighting circuits – in an installation with traditional switches – is even insolvable.

    The principle of intelligent installation is using a data bus and intelligent control components for controlling functions. In this case for the control we use very low voltage switches or intelligent switches connected directly to the bus. Each function such as lighting, power socket distribution, etc. can be switched manually from any location, but it is also possible to switch them on and off automatically e.g. based on data from various sensors, on time schedule etc.

In the intelligent installation the link between control components and corresponding lighting circuits is not given by the power link but the software assignment of these sensors to actuators carrying out programmed commands.
Communication is not carried out through power switching rather by sending telegrams with required information through the bus, e.g. twisted pair cable. Then, it is also easy to control not only individual lighting circuits but also central functions.

Intelligent installation does not stand for lighting control only. An intelligent house also means comfort, entertainment, security, excellent design, and simple control. It saves time as well as consumed energy, makes live in the house simpler and more pleasant, increase the real estate value.

    Intelligent installation provides control for:

  • Lighting – internal as well as external lighting can be easily controlled locally, centrally, or automatically according to movement or presence, lighting scenes ensure cozy atmosphere with correct lighting levels just by pressing one pushbutton on a wall module or remote control.
  • Blinds, rollers, awnings - Blinds, rollers, awnings can be controlled according to a time schedule, based on daylight, or manually according to your needs. Automatic control is also ensured by sensors of wind, light intensity and precipitation, which in case of bad weather move the blinds to a safety position.
  • Ventilation – according to requirements, manually or automatically based on data from air quality sensors, it is possible to open or close Windows, or to switch on/off fans of central ventilation system.
  • Heating and cooling – according to presence or individual requirements it is possible to control temperature in each room.
  • Temperature comfort – heating, ventilation and blind control systems co-operate and ensure the right environment while using an optimum amount of energy.
  • Energy consumption – automatic use of more favorable tariffs for high energy consuming appliances, energy monitoring and possibility of shedding selected loads or circuits. A more efficient control of boiler or air-conditioning equipment according to requirements for heating or cooling.
  • Time scheduling – time control of lighting, heating, blinds, rollers, home appliances, garden equipment etc. based on time switch schedules or events.
  • Security - burglary, fire, smoke, dangerous gas or water leakage can be reported soon enough. A camera at the main door reveals to you who is standing there.
  • Visualization – when leaving your house or going to bed, the intelligent system shows you which windows or doors are open. From one place you can control all functions, view logs and events which took place in your house.
  • On holiday – presence simulation by switching lights on and off, moving blinds or rollers, if you are out for a longer period.
  • Audio - hi-fi components can be located in one room and controlled in other rooms through wall modules or remote control. The same music can sound in the whole house or different music in each room as you wish. You do not have to move with your favorite CDs back and forward any longer
